New York, New York

I just returned from New York City and the time was magical.  Travel always gives birth to fresh perspectives, novel ideas and, in the case of NYC, filled me with energies that are still invigorating.  A simple trip; the time in NYC offered me more of America the beautiful and my heart patters.  My husband and I attended a "heavenly" performance at Carnegie Hall.  Sipping champagne; I was in wonderland.  We walked Fifth and Madison Avenues while scouting out Laduree, fresh from Paris. We were tempted by the roasted chestnuts from street vendors and nibbled a salted pretzel.  Driving through Central Park, we watched the horses clip clop along the streets and planned to take a carriage ride on our next visit.  Lights, landmarks, sounds, and motions all whirling around us; we were immersed in the Big Apple.  Letting Serendipity lead us when we took a wrong turn placing us in front of majestic Riverside Church, we wondered what time the morning service started.  The sign read worship began at 10:45.  It was 10:40 with a parking space right in front of us.  We parked and hopped out.  Riverside is reminiscent of the cathedrals one finds in Europe.  We listened to a guest preacher from Columbia University whose expertise in Social Ethics inspired another look at what it means to "do unto others" in this season of giving.  The NYC jaunt is over.  The memories linger.
