Women's Tour to London & Paris September 2010

You will experience the best of Paris and London on this 8 day trip beginning in London. Midweek, we will be boarding the Eurostar to Paris.  Whether walking in London, meandering in a quintessential Cotswold village or sipping at a sidewalk Café in Paris, you will gather the essence of two of the worlds best loved cities.  The Victoria and Albert in London, The Louvre in Paris, Tea in London, Wine in Paris, Truffles in Paris, Puddings in London, Tres bien in Paris, Cheers in London!  Your world will never be the same when you return to the familiar. Memories of London and Paris will linger.

Afternoon or evening departure for London, England from your nearest gateway.

This morning you will arrive in London and our driver will take us to the delightful Knightsbridge neighborhood where we will perch for our days in London.  Peggy Coonley, the founder of Serendipity Traveler, will join travelers for the duration of our  time together.
This afternoon we have planned a leisurely boat trip down the Thames past parliament  to savour the sights and sounds of London.  We will stop for tea before we visit Westminster Abbey where a lovely organ concert is held each Sunday, late afternoon. This is an intimate way to experience the majestic medieval Abbey and begin your week discovering the gems of London and Paris. L

This morning is one for wandering.  Our excellent English guide will share with us some of the known and lesser known London gems after which you may perhaps stroll to Harrods or the Victoria and Albert Museum or taxi to the Tate.  Late afternoon, we will savour Tea at The Ritz, a thoroughly British tradition, before taking in the theatre in the West End this evening for those who wish. B, L

Early this morning, we will depart for a sampling tour of the quintessential Cotswolds villages and, of course, lunch at one of the excellent Cotswold pubs.  We will  meander the known and lesser known villages nestled in  the mid Cotswolds. B, L

Today we depart London early for our short Eurostar train journey to the center of Paris.
The way to best experience Paris is on foot.  Meander through the quartiers and distill the essence of Parisian life amidst the cafes, architecture, fashion, gardens, museums, and cathedrals.  Drop your bags and you can continue to gather the essence of Paris with a privately guided walking tour of the quintessential neighborhoods that are the heartbeat of  Paris. We will gather tonight for dinner at one of the intimate café’s in our Paris neighborhood which locals know to be delightful. B, D

Our local Paris guide will  lead us on a walking tour of the gems of Paris this morning.  We will then wander to the Rue Cler and lunch amidst the markets cafes and shops.  Perhaps you may wish to visit the Louvre, St. Sulpice or Musee Cluny this afternoon.  We gather this evening to board our river vessel at the Eiffel Tower where we will sip Champagne while taking in the views of the city along the Seine. B, L

A short train ride from Paris is the village that captured Monet’s heart; the village of Giverny.  Giverny (pronounced Jee-va-nyee) is located on the right bank of the River Seine at the entrance to Normandy.  We will visit Monet’s house and gardens where the impressionist painters of the day congregated.  A tour of the Museum of Impressionism will enhance our knowledge of the painters of the movement.  This will be a leisurely day out of the city in the gardens, house and museum of Giverny. B,L

Today is the day when the city bustles with Saturday markets and we will start the day with the Parisians at their outdoor markets.  We will be strolling with the locals, savouring the French way of life and immersed in the culture as we spend our time tasting, smelling, seeing, and shopping for all things French. We will have time today to visit parts of the city still to be explored, Montmarte, The Latin quartier, and others.

Our farewell dinner is this evening.  B, D

Today you will fly home enriched by a taste of two of the world’s grand cities.  Allow 3 hours for check in at Charles DeGaulle. Planning an afternoon departure gives you time for a leisurely morning in Paris before heading to the airport.
