Tropical Winter Bliss

I’m listening to the sounds of Christmas as I write this first blog entry for December. The delicate roses of summer now sparkle with frosty crystals and this morning the harbor had ice resting on the edges. A brilliant red lobster boat just returned home as winter’s dark settled and the lights on the hillside across the bay begin to twinkle.  My daughters will soon be rendezvousing for a week together by the sea in warm weather relishing a vacation.  Perhaps it is because we live in the Northeast that the warm tropical sun calls us to turquoise waters, trade winds whispering peaceful songs, and blue skies like memorable August days.  Winter seems to fly a little faster when I take a respite from mittens, hats, scarves and boots. I am looking forward to a winter week of bliss on Dominica one of my favorite islands. Christmas and New Years will be well past and in January the lush tropical island will offer me her gifts from the sea.  I can use this precious week of island time to reset my inner clock,  ponder next chapters, immerse in mineral pools, unwind with spa treatments,  and listening to the sound of the surf i fall asleep after a full day of island adventure.
