Endless Summer

The calendarsailboat keeps moving and we cannot hold it back.  Each day turns toward the next and, try as we may to slow the tides of time, we must keep moving on as well. Perhaps the lesson is not to let one day get away from us; to capture all that we possibly can with the gift of every day.  There are 21 more days of summer officially. Perfect time for summer fun.  Colors will soon begin to appear in the farthest north and nights will feel a bit cooler in preparation for autumn's arrival.  Apples begin a rosy glow on trees almost ready.  Sweaters become commonplace.  Pumpkins and bittersweet will soon be seen everywhere.  Iced tea switches to hot tea and ice cream needs a ladle of hot fudge.  I am not yet ready to let go of summer.  I want to walk the beaches, plan another picnic, kayak a few more times, and go sailing once or twice before autumn comes.  Another batch of Bread and Butter pickles wait to be made, daffodil, alliums and assorted bulbs purchased. Time dances forward into the unknown and we do as well.
