We all have dreams of traveling ….places to go and see, to discover and explore. Travel is transformational and opens wide the landscapes of our hearts. Meeting people around our country and around the world offers a new lens through which to view the world. Sitting and talking to a Gullah basket weaver in Charleston, South Carolina last year, I learned much about the African American heart and its struggle and about generation after generation of women who learned to weave baskets keeping a legacy alive. In London, talking to the gardeners at the Chelsea Physic Garden, I learned more about the effectiveness of the plants around the world in medicine and healing. Wherever we go we meet the kindness of strangers and our hearts open to unimagined ideas, thoughts, and continuing travel dreams.
